Hitchhiker

Okay, I just saw this . . . a spinning wheel for the car! Gotta love the ingenuity….

And, okay, is it silly of me to be concerned that the number of subscribers to my blog at Bloglines has dropped in the last few days? I’m sure it’s nothing personal, but . . . it’s like I want to ask, was I boring? Is it something I said? You didn’t like the pictures of Chappy? I haven’t been knitting enough? The list of books I read last month pushed you over the edge?? Maybe I’m just too insecure and can’t handle rejection . . . (grin)

I watched the season finale of West Wing last night . . . this used to be my favorite show by far, but just hasn’t been the same since, well, about season 4. (Season 2 is still my favorite.) This season has been better than last year, but still not as good as it could have been. (And, sorry, that episode at the beginning of the year, with Leo’s heart attack? One of the worst ever!) I enjoyed the season finale, though–not the least surprised that (gasp) Jimmy Smits’ character became the Democratic nominee. (I mean, talk about a no-brainer!) I thought Leo came across as pretty inconsistent, though–he has that little chat with Josh about how Santos is the real thing and he thought he’d found the last one. Next, he’s telling Santos he should quit. Way to be supportive, Leo! Then when the President steps in to help get Santos the nomination . . . they pick Leo–the man who’s been waffling on him for the last several episodes–to be the VP-nom? Sheesh . . . I love Leo, but usually he’s a little more decisive than that! I can’t tell you how worried I am about next season–the one with the budget slashed in HALF.

  1. This is my first ever blog comment! I decided it was time to give up lurking to tell you that I have been reading your blog for several months now, and that I continue to enjoy it. Chappy is as cute as ever!

  2. I’m so glad you said something because my bloglines subs have decreased as well. So if it’s you, it’s me too. I had decided that it was because I never talk about knitting anymore (project pictures soon, I promise!), but maybe it’s some sort of systemic thing. Of course that would mean that our subs were inflated before… I don’t like to admit that this bothers me. I don’t check my stats very often, and though I adore comments I don’t live for *quantity* if that makes any sense. But you know, losing 7 or 8 readers all of a sudden, bummer, that.

I haven’t read your West Wing post because I neglected to Tivo it (and um, the last 2 months worth) because I had Tivo set up wrong (duh). So I’m going to wait to see it in reruns. :) You know, the creator, Aaron Sorkin (?), left at the end of season 4, I think. Since then, though I’ve been pleasantly surprised at it not completely jumping the shark, it has gotten much more concilliatory and interested in left-right balance, I think sometimes in a rather smarmy and ham-fisted way. And this year has definitely been weird, but I’m also glad they’re not trying to keep Bartlett in power forever and forget the timeline. Anyway, I guess I should just read summaries from this season’s TWoP, because it will be ages before the reruns are on.

Oh yeah, and David Paul’s new wheel–I hadn’t seen that one before–FABULOUS!

  3. Do you have more than one feed? I recently switched my bloglines subscriptions around… namely, I imported Steph’s RAOK list, which may have switch which feed I was using, and I probably wasn’t the only one who did it.

Thanks for sharing the Hitchhiker wheel… I’ve used it to scare my husband. *grin*

  4. Maybe folks left Bloglines completely and now read you via a different news aggregator. It’s a thought. :)

I used to get paranoid about this stuff, but decided to not worry about it. I’m reading here and I’m sure others are, too.

  5. still reading…but I don’t do bloglines, I’d never get anything DONE! Carson and Sandy send smoochies to Chappy!

  6. what? it was the season finale?

and about the drop in subs, bloglines is acting funny on me lately, dropping stuff on its own. it may be happening to others too.

  7. My Ashford Joy sits in the car quite happily, I suppose if I pushed the seats way way back and tried really hard I might be able to treadle ;¬)

  8. OK, I just added you :) I’ve taken to putting new blogs in a “watch” file in my Yahoo favorites dropdown so I don’t disappoint. Only if I visit more than a few times does it get bloglined. Actually, need to cut a few I don’t seem to get to. Lots of reading out there and we all have to make knitting time too – I try not to take it personally. I’ve started sorting more on the basis of the projects (do they share my pattern/yarn interests?) and not the person to keep it a sane number. You do lace, so you’ve made the grade madam :)

West Wing is still one of the few programs we plan to watch. I agree though, that Leo thing was off. I think it was supposed to show how Leo was the ultimate man of the party and that Santos had to prove himself the true leader and successor to Jeb with that speech, but it could have been better. And yeah, that heart attach episode was weak.

  9. I love the West Wing…it is one of my favorite sites. I have to tell you, I am in love with your dog. He is just gorgeous. I had never heard of this breed before. I lost my cocker spaniel 2 years ago. I have recently been looking at breed. I am going to read up on the Boykin Spaniel.

  10. I showed that wheel to Wes yesterday. He suggested they can make one for the driver too called “Spinning Deathmobile.” :)
