Recap
Well, let’s see, in 2005, I:
- Started my blog.
- Found out I am a Fountain of Knowledge
- Tried washing raw wool, with only partial success.
- Knitted a Pi-are-Square shawl.
- Knitted a pair of Koigu socks and am still wondering why I haven’t done anything else with that wonderful yarn.
- Met Risa, my first in-person blog-friend.
- Showed off some of Mom’s embroidery talent.
- Bought my Lendrum, my second spinning wheel.
- Said good-bye to my only uncle.
- Somehow managed to “recycle” my gift from my KRSP.
- Knitted an incredibly soft shawl in the beautiful Brooks Farm yarn.
- Went on Vacation.
- Had the kitchen refaced, with new countertops.
- Had my first contest.
- Finished my second pair of socks for the year, in Lorna’s Laces this time.
- Knitted the Peacock Feathers Shawl, which I adore, and also hit a new high of 49 Comments on one post.
- Also found the perfect shoes to go with the shawl
- Had my bathroom refaced.
- Hosted my first Knit-Along, for the Union Square Market Pullover
- Knitted a Nothing But a T-Shirt.
- Celebrated Chappy’s fourth birthday.
- Knitted a Flower Basket Shawl, in Artfiber’s Chai yarn
- Spent a day with Harry Potter.
- Finally tried combing some of that wool I washed back in February.
- Made friends with a new LYS.
- Tried combing again.
- Watched Mom enjoying Martha’s Vineyard without me.
- Got a new camera.
- Got a second new camera.
- Designed my very own Christmas Tree Hat.
- Celebrated Chappy’s fourth anniversary with us.
- Went to my first wedding in years.
- Said a lot of prayers.
- Paused for more on September 11th.
- Fell in defeat to an Icelandic shawl.
- Went to Rhinebeck–my very first sheep and wool festival–and met a whole bunch of great people and bought a really very reasonable amount of wool.
- Combined “firsts” by knitting my first pair of gloves–my first project with my own handspun yarn.
- Remembered Katy, my first Boykin Spaniel.
- Celebrated my last birthday in my 30s.
- Self-published my very first pattern and started my second knit-along. (I’ve sold about 60 copies, and have donated some of the proceeds to charity–not bad, huh?)
- Reminisced about some Firsts.
- Finished–finally–my Union Square Market Pullover after five months.
- Designed and knitted a neck-warmer scarf.
- Improved immensely in my spinning in the year since I learned.
- Knitted my very first knitted bag.
- Realized my hat was lucky.
- Gloated.
- Finished another pair of socks–this pair took five months through sheer laziness.
Happy New Year, everyone. Thank you for such a good year.

Tannenbaum.
