Peacking
Let’s take a peek at my Half-A-Peacock-Stole as she reclines on the bed, shall we? She fits just perfectly on my blocking board.
She really is quite lovely . . . despite the errors.
What errors? Well, see? Here is last year’s Peacock Feathers Shawl, the original, triangular version. Note how in the lower portion, there are long, straight, vertical lines of stitches.
Miss Diva Peacock Stole, on the other hand is apparently slouching–her vertical “feathers” don’t quite line up the way they’re
supposed to. I’m not sure WHY since I was really pretty careful all the way through, but . . . well . . . It would bug me more if she had been easier to get along
with throughout the process.
And, really, take a look back at that first picture? Who is REALLY going to know? She’s still lovely. She’s still lacy. She’s still that pretty blue . . . she’s just not perfect. That’ll teach her. Not everybody is cut out to be a Diva . . . especially when you’re relying on someone else to do the job. An opera singer who’s going to go out and nail the Aria perfectly can afford a high temperament. But a knitted object that ultimately needs the Knitter to make everything come together? Maybe she should have been just a little nicer . . . Still, she’s darn pretty, so . . . no complaints.
But . . . I do hope the second half is a little friendlier….

Tannenbaum.
House Calls

She is beautiful! But, don’t let it get to her head!
Really darn pretty!
She’s purdy. I’m not letting myself go back and look for the pattern name/maker/vendor lest I get some crazy ideas in my head.
Hmmmmm…..reminds me of the adage: I am not perfect, but parts of me are!…….now……if she sings……you can retire!
She’s quite lovely and I am sure she will be a treat to wear when she’s all finished.
She’s beautiful but feel free not to tell her that! No-one is going to look at your finished stole and say ‘oooh! look a mistake… and another one!’ they are just going to be knocked out by how absolutely gorgeous it is and how clever and talented you are to have knitted it.
She may not be perfect, but you have to look very very very closely to see that. She does seem a bit subdued, but maybe she just wanted to be blocked and in the spotlight. Hopefully, her second half will cooperate with you just a little bit more:)
Gorgeous. And I think perfection is overrated - that’ll teach her to be such a diva!
You’re a pro at the pattern now. I’m sure the second half will be a breeze! She looks quite lovely by the way.
She’s absolutely stunning. The peacock shawl is on my to do list, one of these days. Ther’es just never quite enough time.
Congratulations on being half way through. The stole looks wonderful and you must be so happy to be on the down side of the project — I’m nowhere near that yet, so I’m living vicariously through your photos. Looks like you had a great day Saturday!
Beautiful. Stunning. I almost think I like her in stole form better. I’m with you on the slippery yarn. I did 10 rows last night including the purl back and it took like 1.5 to 2 hours at least. I keep telling myself - it will be beautiful, it will be…Ugh. I’m now in the 90’s row and what’s that - not even the half way point.
Gorgeous and inspiring! Miss Diva is more Maria Callas than Kiri Te Kanawa, no?
Wow! She’s GORGEOUS! I think my Irish Hiking Scarf, after seeing this beauty online, may be calling her up for a date.
Pit stop check up: It’s looking good. Beautiful colour! How’s the second half coming along?
