Kiwi, Anyone?
Here’s the wheel I learned to spin on, my Ashford Kiwi. I got it secondhand on Ebay almost two years ago and am really quite attached to it.
However, the poor thing rarely gets used anymore. I use my Lendrum for just about everything, and I haven’t used the Kiwi for anything at all since last November.
That’s just not fair. It deserves better.
So, what I want to do, is find a new home for this good wheel. I’ve got the wheel–a double-treadle, versatile wheel. Seven bobbins. A basic 2-bobbin lazy kate. A hi-speed “kit,” and a maintenance kit.
New, these would cost about $350.
I’m thinking . . . $300. Maybe $275?
But–here’s the important thing. The big Condition.
I am not willing to pack and ship this. I don’t want to take it apart, and I definitely don’t want to risk shipping damage.
So, that means that whoever buys this wheel has to be somewhere within pick-up distance. Or willing to meet me at a halfway point no more than an hour or so away from me here in northern New Jersey. Or, going to Rhinebeck on Saturday, since I would be willing to tote this to Rhinebeck on the one day I’m going.
What do you think? Anyone want to give this poor, lonely wheel a new home?
Updated 3/31/07: This has been sold. But thank you for your interest!

Tannenbaum.

Not I. I’m sort of all set with wheels for the moment. But it’s a great deal for the right person. If I think of anyone I’ll send them in your direction.
Oh, how I wish I could say yes. Having just started spinning with a drop spindle a couple months ago, I am on the lookout for the right deal on a wheel.
Unfortunately, A) I don’t have that kind of money available at this time, and B) I live in New Hampshire and won’t be getting to Rhinebeck.
I’m sure you’ll make the right connection for your old spinning friend. It just can’t be me this time.
What a lovely wheel. The right person will be along to claim it. I just know it.
Aww, I tried the kiwi a few weeks ago and loved it, though I’m definitely looking forward to my matchless. Good luck with the selling. Hope you are able to get a good price for it.
Have you listed it on spin-sales? You might get a few more bites that way…and if anyone in Mass or north of Mass wants it, I’m happy to get it from you at Rhinebeck for them and pass it on.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhh…. Me wants me wants me wants… but I won’t be going to Rhinebeck, and I don’t live close enough to you
Ah well, some day I’ll have a wheel…
Cheers Eva
Ah, that is a good deal for anyone who gets the wheel. If someone slightly south of Baltimore wants it I would be willing to transport it for them and have them pick it up from me…
Aw, man. If I were within the vicinity I’d so pick it up. I’m DYING to learn how to spin.
It’s a lovely wheel!
I wanna say yes too! Too bad I’m not going to Rhinebeck and I don’t live near you! And, that is a lot of diapers!!!
rhinebeck is THIS weekend? i picked a lousy weekend to get married, didn’t i. at least i’ll have something to read next week, eh? i’ve been blocking it out, since i know i can’t go. very nice wheel. i’m scouring my brain, trying to figure out who i know out that way that might be interested. hmmmmmmm.
Still for sale?? Is so, please email me. I might be interested!
If you still have the Kiwi for sale, I am interested. I will be in Monticello, NY visiting my Mom from Oct. 13-18 and could meet you. Where in Jersey are you? Please let me know asap since I am ready to buy ~
Thank you
If this is still available for sale I could drive up this weekend and pick it up. Please, let me know.
Carole pointed me to this post. Is the wheel still available? If so, I may be interested. Would you be able to provide some more detailed pictures? Please drop me an e-mail one way or another. Thanks!
Hello-
DO you still have you Kiwi. I live in VA but my family lives in SOmerset, NJ. If you wouldn’t mind meeting them, I may be interested. They wil be coming to see me in May because I am 9 months pregnant. I would love to give it a good home but becasue I am pregnant really can’t afford much but would love it. Thank you so much for your time.
