I came into work this morning and found this newspaper on my desk. A coworker that lives near my sister saw this–a picture of my niece, in the paper, and brought it in for me. How cool is that? (She’s in the picture on the right.)
I got my Patternworks catalog today–apparently they have their own yarn now. I wonder where they got that idea?
I’ve got a tired dog tonight. He got a walk at lunchtime. He got another walk after work. And he got a bath, after which he needed, of course, to run laps around the house to blow-dry his fur.
The bath, well, that’s because Chappy’s recurring staph infection, um, recurred. Sigh. I do NOT want to take him to the vet because he’ll just give him another course of antibiotics, which ultimately isn’t going to help anything. It temporarily takes away the symptoms, but it doesn’t do anything to resolve the underlying problem. I figure I’ll be bathing him with this medicated shampoo every couple days for a while; I can add, I suppose, some more skin-friendly supplements (although he’s already getting quite a few); there are topical ointments I can (and have) put on the red, itchy spots. But really, what I WANT is to find a way to keep this from recurring again.
Okay . . . I’m going to go spin now….

Tannenbaum.

I have one dog that gets hot spots, one that doesn’t. Exactly the same kind of dog in the same living conditions. I think some are just more suseptable to it than others. Generally I can keep them under control with a triple abx ointment. Good luck.
Poor Chappy. Olive has skin problems too, but she has to go to the vet for special baths, they don’t sell the chemicals to non vet people. She hates them, but she likes going because everyone at the vet tells her how pretty she is.
Oh I hope Chappy is feeling better again soon. Poor dumpling. Max gets seasonal allergies that show up as skin issues and sneezes.
I hope you can find something that will make Chappy repel those infections for good.
Oh poor Chappy! Bailey is allergic to grass, can you believe it, and was in a bad way earlier this summer. After a couple of cortisone shots, a round of antibiotics and 2 grape chewable children’s Benadryl a day, he’s virtually itch free. Course, now he has dry skin but at least he’s not itching! I hope Chappy feels better soon!
Poor Chappy! I hope that his skin problems clear up sometime soon. It must be so frustrating for him (and you).
Keep going on the peacock stole! You’re making good progress. You’re more than half way through, so it’s all downhill now, right?!
Poor Chappy :o( I hope he feels better soon…
Poor Chappy. What a crappy deal. I don’t know much about staff, but I bought Riley some treats that have gluecosemine (sp?) and vitamin E and some other stuff - gee I’m being specific and articulate this morning - and it’s supposed to help with dry itchy skin. Would something like that help? If you think so, I’ll try to figure out what it’s called.
I saw your title and instantly started singing, Fame, la la la la la gonna learn how to fly, fame. Okay so I don’t know all the words, but the tune was there.
Hope cahppy is feeling better soon and you get the infection beat.
I’m sorry that Chappy is still having trouble with that staph infection. Nasty things staph infections. I take it that your niece was in the paper for something really good, right?
Deb, I don’t know where abouts you live, but you may want to try a Vet that also has training in holistic medicine. My vet (Suburb of Seattle, WA) is known and respected by vets nation wide. Feel free to call him and ask for a referral in your part of the country as he travels and does teaching lectures frequently. Dr. Yearout is his name and the number is 425 334 8171. Good luck.
