Uneasy
Unveiling. Here you go, a look at my modelled Peacock Stole.
Up-do. (And no, I don’t usually put this many different things in my hair on the rare occasion I try to put it up, but I thought it would be fun to be extravagant with the accessoris for a change.
Unusual Lunch. A Honeycrisp apple with peanut butter. It’s one of those combinations that sound strange–and I normally don’t even like peanut butter very much–but I’m telling you, this, you have to try. The crisp, juiciness of the apple against the sticky, nut flavor of the peanut butter . . . such a great combination.
Uncharted Territory. Yes, well, some adventures work out better than others. I felted my bag today, and while it went mostly well . . . um . . . as you can see, the two sides did NOT felt evenly. Granted, I deliberately made one side a few rows bigger than the other, so they would overlap when they were closed, but, um . . . the handles WERE the same size when we started…. I have absolutely no idea what to do about this! It’s possble that, once dry, the uneven SIDES will actually be fine and the difference in felting not particularly noticeable . . . but the handle is going to be a problem (grin). Maybe I can fold the long one to match and put a buckle on it, like I’d meant it to look that way all along? (Suggestions welcome–and I DID try hand-felting it to get it smaller, but I just don’t have the serious hand-strength to accomplish that. Even the original swatch for the bag . . . hand-felting and I do NOT get along.)
Underwear (well, sort of). Jane wanted to see creative pictures of my handknitted socks, so . . . here you go. Sock Art.
Unheard of! Yes, here’s my knitting bag. Completely empty, at least for the moment. Although, I do have a pair of socks panting to be knitted, so . . . I won’t have empty needles for long!

Tannenbaum.
House Calls

1. The shawl is stunning (but then I knew it would be).
2. Purty hair accessories!
3. Bummer about the uneven felting. I’m a felting virgin, so have nothing useful to say, whatsoever.
4. LOL Look at all those socks!
5. Um, and *empty* knitting bad? Heavens. You must fix that!
Love the sock picture! My hair is so fine it would take all those things to hold it up. I have not done nuch felting either, so I don’t know about the sides of the bag. I could sent a puppy to chew it.
are we up to U already? Damn!
That shawl is just gorgeous - what a beautiful work of art! And I love the updo - I keep thinking my shawl pins could do double duty as hairpins, and I think you just convinced me! I think I’ll put that in my next listing on etsy.
The shawl is gorgeous and your updo is pretty! Nothing wrong with a little extra bling once in awhile (or all the time).
No clue on the felting as most of my felting has been completely by accident but how annoying! I hope it turns out. The buckle idea sounds like a good one. Maybe cutting and sewing it?
An empty knitting bag! I may never, ever, ever know that feeling.
Try running it through the washer to felt it one more time. Sometimes it takes a couple of trips through the washer to finish felting! At least through MY washer…
it was well and truly worth the wait to see that shawl. it is absolutely stunning!
*Beautiful shawl. Simply stunning and kudos for both modifying to pattern and the sticktoitness of it all.
*Nice updo and pretty hair doodads to go with it
*Yeah felting? Not done very much of it myself beyond a couple of booga bags and a hat or two. Last attempt, remember those cute little mittens for the twins? No? They felted far too stiff and small for the monkeys to wear. No help here, sorry.
*I so LOVE apples with peanut butter! Excellent choice for lunch!
*Neat sock picture.
*No projects. Empty bag? Pass the smelling salts please.
Oooo, it is beautiful!!! Your hair looks great up like that too.
My mom and dad keep going on and on about the honeycrisp apples but I’m afraid we don’t see them around here in the stores. But I’ve been a fan of pb and apples for some time. My sister likes to throw cheese and honey into the mix as well…
Gorgeous shawl, gorgeous hair, apple/peanut butter is the best, unfortunate felting. (I don’t know much about felting; but can you keep going with the whole thing and maybe the strap will catch up? Maybe you can give it to someone with bad posture. :-))
Nice sock collection. And isn’t it nice to see the bottom of your knitting bag once in a while?
I am shocked to see we are up to U already too. I haven’t done my R yet!
Your shawl came out beautiful! Very pretty color too. And your hair looks great up! It’s so nice and shiny and such a great color.
Gorgeous Peacock. And your hair is so pretty - I love a good updo. I don’t know what to tell you on the handle - some brilliant soul will come through for you, I’m sure.
I’ve heard empty needles are bad luck! The shawl is beautiful…nicely done!
But I’m curious as to what your uneasy about, other than the bag. The stole is beautiful, and your hair looked great!
Wonderful post. I love the shawl! Was it a terrible pain to graft? I can not ever get my hair to stay up like that. I usually have to wash 7-8 times to get things to felt–frontloaders are a pain…
yum! and empty? I can’t remember when;)
If you have a top load washer try washing again peeking in every few minutes to check the felting. It should tighten up. I end up running the wash cycle twice then rinse and spin. I know “they” say not to spin but it hasn’t bothered anything I’ve felted. I have done many felted items.
The peacock stole is gorgeous! I love it.
And I love apples with peanut butter too, something about the combination is delicious!
Beautiful shawl :o)
That sucks about the felting - maybe a buckle would work…? Did the hose stuff work?
The stole is stunning!! Congrats on another lovely piece of lace.
I’ve had something similar happen in felting, if one side was hit with more hot water than the other. You can probably hand felt to even things out.
Nothing to be ‘uneasy’ about where that shawl is concerned. It’s delicious!
wow the up-do is so pretty! mine never looks pretty anymore i think it’s going to get the major chop chop soon.
and i love apples and peanutbutter, but granny smith. i like the tartness with the nuttyness. mmmmmm so good.
and your bag looks so baron. you could use one of our pretty pretty small project bags to brighten it up! (wink)
