Doll’s Day Out

What?

Doesn’t everyone take their dolls on vacation? I mean, we couldn’t let them go their whole lives without seeing Martha’s Vineyard, could we? (Although, the two littlest ones in the front have been mine since childhood, so until I was 10 or so, anywhere I went, they went, so they’re pretty well-travelled, as dolls go.)

And, anyway, this was in 1999, when I didn’t have a puppy to distract me . . .

  1. The world would be a happier place if everyone brought their dolls, blankies, puppies and security socks out into the world with them. If nothing else, there would be endless fodder for approaching a stranger and talking. Maybe if we all talked to strangers the world would be better off?

  2. Too cute!

  3. Wow, I’m way behind on your posts. I love the new socks. And, I hadn’t heard about the London tornado. Too bizarre. I love the dolls on the beach. Is the brunette doll on the left a Madame Alexander? I so loved mine as a child.

  4. I’m sure they had a lot of fun. Doll’s don’t get out often enough.

Good to hear that your Fab shoes were wearable all day! They are so Fab.

  5. Fun! Are you going to knit for these dolls?

  6. Did the teddy bears have a picnic for the dollies? Heheheh–what fun!

  7. I just got through talking to your Mom awhile ago. She told me to be sure to take a look at the blog for THE stollen. You are purely amazing! That’s a lot of cooking for sure. As for the dolls, well, this brought back my own childhood when I’d take my special dolls down to the beach at West Chop. After all, they lived on M.V. with me; they certainly deserved to go to the beach. Boy, I’d have a lot of sand in their clothes when I came home from our dolly picnics (with my bunch of childhood dinner ware) in which we’d have make-believe clam bakes. I had a stash of drift wood, some that (to me) looked like corn cobs and there were rocks for potato salad and real shells for the clam bake part as well as I’d pick berries from the bushes just to make the plates pretty. My dollies and myself would have grand party conversations (with me supplying both sides of the talk, of course) and it would be a full day for me. I’m glad you took yours down to the beach too. Just proper Martha’s Vineyard dollies for sure.
