It’s a Sickness

Img_3273 So, this morning, I got up and made some coffee.

Img_3276 Took my vitamins.

Img_3272 Cooked for me and Chappy.

Img_3278 Ate my breakfast.

Img_3279_1 Fed Chappy. (Doesn’t he look pathetic while he’s waiting for permission to eat? I mean, cute. He looks cute, not pathetic!)

Img_3282_1 Put on some make-up. And then guess who I saw?

Img_3285 Risa! She and I went to the Mall at Short Hills today–the first time she’s ever been there. (Shocking, I know, since she’s so proud of having grown up as a mall-rat.) We shopped for a while and then had lunch at Bloomingdales.

Img_3284 I had a pastrami wrap . . . really, a reuben . . . and it was quite tasty, even if I couldn’t finish all of it.

Img_3293_1 I’m quite proud of my purchases. A red merino/cashmere relaxed turtleneck from Ann Taylor, a greenish-blue (not that it photographed even a tiny bit green) pullover from JCrew (courtesy of Risa’s employee discount), and a beautiful blue sweater, also from Ann Taylor which was not only on sale and lovely, but is 100% cashmere. When I realized, I almost swooned!

Img_3307_1 I mean, all this beauty for about $65? Too good to be true!

Img_3286_1 After all that shopping, of course, we were hungry again, so we stopped at Cafe Beethoven in Chatham for some cappucino and a snack. (The cappucino is excellent there, it really is–lots of foam, like a good cappucino should have. You know, like the way they were before Charbucks came along.)

But, well, Cafe Beethoven is just a couple doors up from the Stitching Bee.

Img_3303_1 What can I tell you? It’s a sickness. I admit it. I appear to have a sock yarn addiction. They say admitting the problem is the first step….

Oh, and incidentally, if it makes those of you who were feeling teased and taunted by yesterday’s post feel any better, I want you to know that when I got home from work yesterday, they were all gone–so I couldn’t have any, either!

Img_3270_2 Really, it was a lovely day. Mom and I even got Chappy–still deliriously happy over getting to truly greet Risa without the monkeys cringing away–out for a walk. Nice. And now I’ve got to go–he’s looking for his supper!

  1. Fun day! Just think how much more expensive it would be if you were addicted to something besides sock yarn.
And those cookies yesterday? Thanks for planting the idea in my head. It wouldn’t go away, and I had to make oatmeal cookies today.

  2. It was a fabulous day. Thanks Deb for the great idea! I so needed a day out with a good friend.

  3. What a great trip! I haven’t been to Cafe Beethoven in a while as well as the Stitching Bee. I did find some lovely Diaketo yarn there. Ah….

  4. Lovely sock yarn, I’m sorry you didn’t get any cookies. I know I forgot to do something today…

  5. never did get out the kitchenaid, lol.

i was looking at your pile of vitamins, and realized you take more than i do, and hubbie thinks i rattle! what is all that stuff?

i take 1 glucosamine/chondroitin, i garlic, 1 vitamin c (unless i have a cold, then it’s 2), 1 vitamin e, 1 multivitamin, and 1 BC (although sean wants me to stop, he’s tired of being the youngest, lol!). rattle rattle. and we’re not even mentioning the echinacea when i have a cold, as well.

  6. I wonder if this is the Knit From Your Stash 2007 illness. I have found that since the exception to the rule is that you can buy sock yarn… that buying sock yarn has become an addiction. At least you bought amazing sock yarn!

  7. What a nice day! I am not much of a mall shopper (especially since it’s an hour’s drive to any mall from here) and I tire easily.

I must remember: Take more food and coffee breaks!

    Thanks for the tip. :-)

  8. Sounds like a really fun day. Your wrap looks delicious!

  9. Looks like a GREAT day! :)

  10. Thanks for sharing your lovely day!

  11. Yeah, I’ve got this sock yarn ailment also. I just love the stuff! (Check out my blog for 3/1 about my sock yarn addiction). What are the particulars about your newest yarns? They look almost silky.

  12. Oh, Risa looks very happy!

Ummm, how did ALL those cookies get eaten so fast? Seriously? That looked liek it was at least 3 dozen!

But yes, I do feel better. maybe you’ll just have to make a batch to bring with you for us to enjoy when we visit together in a couple weeks. (hint hint…) :)

  13. I admit I am powerless over sock yarn but I’m not willing to enter recovery. What a fun day you & Risa had! The Short Hills mall is a really classy mall! What bargains you got!

  14. Charbucks! Ha ha! I love that name for them! I used to always get soy in my lattes or cappuccinos, but I couldn’t do so there because they always burned the soy so it tasted like I had a nut flavored syrup added to all my drinks.

What bargains you got! I need to shop with you!
