Bad Week

Do you folks in the U.S. realize what a bad week the middle of April is? Not only the recent tragedy at Virginia Tech, but also the anniversaries of Waco, Columbine, and the Oklahoma City bombing.
And tax day.
All in all, a good week to keep your head down….
But while doing so, wear orange and maroon tomorrow, April 20th. All part of Hokie Hope in honor of the Virgina Tech victims.

I have been aware of that for years. My sister’s birthday is in this week and she always reminds me of how bad it is.

I’m wearing my maroon today, don’t own orange. You know, I just read something about how the Virginia Tech killer said something about the Columbine duo on either his note or video, and I never made the date connection, so thanks for mentioning that. I knew that the other three events were linked by date but just didn’t put two and two together on this one.
Wish I had read about Hokie hope sooner. Then again, I’m not sure I own any of those colors….
Don’t forget Hitler’s Birthday which is today. Yeah, it’s kind of a bummer having a birthday this week. I amcontinually reminded about what an awful week it is… Of course, all of these awful things except tax day and Hitler’s birthday have all happened since I’ve been alive…
That so many evil people have chosen this week is no accident. The media reminding the nation of stuff like this spurs many on to do their dastardly deeds in “honor” of those who have gone before them into infamy.

You’re right, this weeks is not a good one. I also agree with Marcia that all the ‘reminders’ help plant ideas, etc.
I kind of think April is a bad month in general. Lincoln’s assassination and the sinking of the Titanic are a few more of the list. Today is also the 10th anniversary of my getting out of the Grand Forks flood. I was stuck in the weather center on campus disseminating notices via the community cable access channel. I kept urging co-workers to go take care of their homes of the homes of their family members in town until I was stuck without my medicines, change of clothes or food. In general I hate April, even though my birthday lands right in the middle of it.
That blows, yesterday was my birthday! Ironically, when I was younger I remember loving my birthday because it represented the first day of the American Revoluntionary War. Later on I learned that is the reason the bombers chose that day for Oklahoma city bombing. There is some negative, but there is also positive, it just depends where you look.
