Where Not?
So, judging by last week’s answers, apparently the question I should have been asking was:
Where DON’T you read??
Well, let’s see . . . I don’t read while driving, while showering, or while at work. I don’t read when I’m in a restaurant (unless I’m by myself). I don’t read when I’m out for walks with Chappy or with friends
. I don’t read in the dark, or when I’m sleeping. I don’t read at (most) parties or social events. I don’t read when I’m spinning and hardly ever when I’m knitting.
Really, it’ll probably be faster to show you . . .
Not while playing in the snow, either.
But, otherwise? Basically, so long as my hands are dry and I’m not doing something that requires full concentration for safety reasons or for other reasons, or that requires two hands, and I’m awake, I’m reading. Yes, I read while . . . .
Eating. Brushing my teeth. Lying in bed. In front of the television. During lunch. While stirring things on the stove. While waiting for webpages to load. In the bathroom. Between answering emails. While out in public. Waiting for airplanes. During any spare five minutes I can find. Hey, I’ve even read in dark-ish movie theaters while waiting for the film to begin.
(Really, this was rather a silly question. I mean, I might as well have asked when I am or am not breathing, or some other entirely necessary-for-life activity….)

Would you believe I just figured out to look on yuor sidebar to find who does Blogging through Thursday…I am not sure why I didn’t realize you would have a personal blog….duh! Just wanted to stop by and say I really enjoy BTT. Thanks
I can tell you are a person who makes good use of her time! Have a great vacation – love your vacation yarn choices for beach socks!
I found the my iPod lets me “read” in a lot more places than I could before – like the car, the shower, the dark, and while knitting. However my suspicion is that you are a true “reader” and that audiobooks, even unabridged ones, just wouldn’t make the grade.
You read in many more situations than do I! I’ve never read while brushing my teeth. But I almost always read while I’m knitting, unless the object is too intricate.
I like to read in the tub, despite the danger of falling asleep and waking up cold, wrinkly, and with a [gasp] soggy book.
I’m going to try reading while I brush my teeth.
I don’t read while in the car either. Emotions make me ill. And all the other stuff you listed, I don’t do either except I do while taken a bath. It nice to just lay on the tub with the candles around and a nice smell of soap gels or whatever spa stuff I have. Then I read *grin*
Happy BTTs – hope you have a nice Mother’s Day weekend!
Yup… to all of it. My DH is not a reader and it drives him crazy sometimes that I’m always reading… Oh well, I was a reader when we met! LOL…
Well, this explains why you get so many books read! I am curious about your answer to Deb’s question, though. Do you listen to audiobooks? I have a bunch of them on my Ipod, but to me it’s just not the same as “real” reading.
i even read in the bathroom while doing . . . my “business.” i read fast enough that i read one full page. amazing how fast you can turn pages when you do that!
I read while stirring food, too – this was a tough one, wasn’t it?
good answers! true readers read almost everywhere, don’t they?
Great answers! I should’ve added ‘brushing teeth’ to my list too!
There are many creative ways to hold a book open too when one’s hands aren’t available, I’ve discovered.
Great pictures to go with your response, Deb! Great answer!
Very clever post.
