Thunder
Chappy wants to know why our town hates him tonight.
It’s the scheduled fireworks night of the annual Fireman’s Carnival, which is one of his least-favorite nights of the year anyway.
And yet, there’s a massive string of severe thunderstorms . . . As in, he’s huddled in a corner right now, listening to the thunder and the rain against the windows.
So, what is our town doing? Is it sensibly postponing the fireworks for a less stormy night?
No, of course, that would be sensible. If you listen to the booming very carefully, you can hear two, distinct types. The thunder, and the rhythmic booms of fireworks.
Which basically means that Chappy is suffering a double dose of his least favorite kind of "weather" phenomena.
(Yes, I know that fireworks aren’t weather . . . and I’m sure he wouldn’t enjoy a flood or tornado, either, but of the weather he knows . . . you understand what I mean.)
Poor little guy…..

Poor boy! My cat used to cower under a chair or bed during thunderstorms but has gone deaf in his old age. He doesn’t even bat an eye! I guess that’s one good thing about getting old and going deaf.

I take offense that your dog is scared of thunder and fireworks! Offense I say!!! This is WAR!
Chaos would be quivering behind the toilet, so I’m sure he has the utmost sympathy for Chappy!

I wish that fireworks would go away, actually. It’s way too dry where I live and there’s always some yoyo that sets the hills on fire. And my cats hate them.
My previous dog freaked about the fireworks and thunder. Run away and hide. Quick. Come back. Climb on mom’s lap (even if she’s standing). Run away. Back and forth! I tried homeopathic phosphorus, seemed to work the first time, but not so much after that. Poor girl, she’s resting forever now.
Poor Chappy :o( Beanie is the same way - totally freaks if she hears even the hint of thunder :o(
