Enjoy Your Moment
I didn’t watch most of the Oscars last night, but I thought this was a particularly sweet moment–not only was Glen Hansard’s speech sweet, but when his partner, Marketa Irglova got played off by the orchestra before she could say a word, Jon Stewart brought her back on-stage with an “Enjoy your moment!” Which, really, isn’t that what it’s all about? I mean, sure, somebody like George Clooney or Tom Hanks is going to be back in other years, but a pair like this? This was their one, big, Hollywood moment. I’m glad that Jon Stewart made sure they got the most of it.
I like the winning song, too, Falling Slowly. Here’s the Oscar version.
Although, how can you not like a toe-tapper like “How Do You Know?” (Here’s the Oscar version.)

Tannenbaum.
House Calls

Falling Slowly is a nice song. It would’ve been pretty cool if the Moldy Peaches’ song from Juno had been nominated.

I love Jon Stewart, but don’t think he’s a good Oscar host–except for when he brought Marketa back out. That was amazing, and absolutely perfect.

We actually watched it all this year, a rareity. That was definitely the best moment though! DH didn’t care for their song, but I liked it a lot and was glad it won. Menken et al. will have other opportunities.

I watched some of them - until the power went out. The TiVo and DirecTV receiver (and the TV) are all on a battery backup so I managed to get another 1/2 hour of recording before it all went dead but we still haven’t watched it all. (Frankly I’m not sure if we will). However, I’m so glad Jon Stewart did that - I hate it when the orchestra starts playing people off. When the hell will the network realize they need more time and just schedule the thing for 4 hours?

I only watched 10 minutes of the whole broadcast and it was that 10 minutes! Jon Stewart was so awesome about it.

That was a good moment. The rest of the show seemed a bit flat, but at least I got some knitting done.

That Chappy… so handsome, so happy, happy Chappy! Cake? Do I smell cake? Can I come over? Or you can come here and bake cake? The blue spinning is lovely!
