Today, we had a quiet, little birthday celebration for my niece and nephew. Here, Chappy and my nephew are waiting for dinner (the lasagna I made yesterday) to be served.

After dinner, the boys went outside to scrub the deck clean. It’s true, it mostly, really, still needs a power-cleaning, but at least it’s not disgustingly dirty any more (grin).

Chappy really had fun with that (look how skinny his legs look!)….

Or, at least, he mostly had fun!

(Okay, he was just reaching for the rubber broom, but my, doesn’t he look viscious?)

In fact, let’s take another look at that. Oooh … mean doggy! (Just kidding.)

The cake was lit, as was the biiiiiig chocolate chip cookie my sister brought.

Candles lit, and then blown out.

(Most of them.)

I got some knitting done on my cardigan, too.

I’ve got both sleeves started–here’s a close-up at one of them. Stitches picked up along the armhole and joined to the bottom as each of the beginning rows was knit. From here on, the sleeves are knit circularly. I’m working from both ends of the same skein of yarn and now need to decide whether I want to knit the sleeves at the exact same time or if I want to “tag-team” them, where I’ll knit, on 10 rows on one sleeve, then 10 rows on the other, working individually, but without either of them getting too far ahead of its friend. Because they HAVE to be the same length and I CAN’T afford to run out of yarn on either of them. Doing them together is just the safest thing to do. And it’s a comfort having the button bands done and not having to worry about them.

And now we’re all just happily tired. Especially Chappy, who is just exhausted from all that scrubbing!
