Sleeving
The sleeves are coming along, see?
Okay, it’s hard to see, but they’re about 6″ long and I’m working on both of them at the same time, so in this picture, the sweater is more or less folded in half and both sleeves are pointing off to the left. The beauty of this system is that they’re both using exactly the same amount of yarn at the same time, so that I can’t run out. It’s amazing how quickly they’re going, too. It occurred to me earlier that that’s probably because the sleeves are the first part of this sweater I’ve been able to do in the round, rather than back and forth with purl rows. That, and the rows are getting progressively smaller as time goes on, although it’s possible I’ve decreased a little more steeply than I should. To be sure, I’d need to transfer the sleeves to separate needles so I can try the sweater on. But, still … happy! It’s going to be so refreshing to have a finished sweater that FITS for a change. Top-down knitting is just fabulous in so many ways, and Barbara Walker is a genius.
Has anybody else notice how many people have had their spinning mojo reinvigorated lately? I need to find out how, because it’s been almost a month and a half since I did any spinning–which is awful! I think my Little Gem is starting to feel like a second-class, Little Cut Glass or something, poor thing.
And–is it just me, or is everybody getting fewer comments lately? My e-mail box goes hours at a time without having any comments to alert me to, and we’re both trying to convince ourselves that it’s because it’s practically summertime and people are just busy doing other things, like gardening. I swear, every other blog I read lately is talking about gardening–which is fine, really. I think fresh vegetables and flowers are wonderful things, I just have no interest in growing them myself. Although, with the way prices are going these days…. Anyway, is it just me?
My laptop is relieved that that initial Mozy backup is finally finished. It started it took four full days from beginning to end, and now my laptop is tired, poor thing (grin). I’m sure it’s looking forward to a good night’s sleep.
Chappy, on the other hand, had plenty of time to rest today because he was alone for hours at a time–an unusual thing for him, since one or both of his grandparents are usually nearby. I think he’s been feeling just a little sorry for himself, but I gave him an extra big biscuit after supper, and he did get a walk at lunchtime, so really, I don’t think he’s suffering that much. Certainly, he hasn’t been looking like he felt anywhere near as nasty as he looked on Sunday.

Tannenbaum.

Slow comments - not just you! I do think it’s the time of year - I’ve been at this for 3 (?) years now, and every spring I start to think maybe I’ve ceased to be interesting or said something wrong, or…. I suspect the comments will come back - I’ve been bad about commenting myself - just feeling generally busy and overwhelmed, so I suppose I might not be alone in that.

Barbara Walker *IS* a genius!
I’ve been doing outdoors things, which have greatly reduced commenting and posting.

Funny you say that about the spinning . . . my wheel has been calling to me lately, too! I went a lonnnnnng time without playing with it, so I feel like I’m starting again at square one, but yeah, I’m totally feeling the spinning love lately.

Oh yeah - top down knitting is my absolute favorite!
Nope, not just you re the comments!

The sweater sleeves are looking good! :o)
I think it’s the time of year, too. I’m outside more and not online as much so I’m sure there are other gardeners out there doing the same. ;o)

Top down sweaters are the best! I have been so freaking busy at work and then at home too that I haven’t been able to comment as regularly as I’d like. You’re probably right on the mark about the early summer busy-ness.

Yeah, it does seem that blogland has been a bit quiet lately. I’m sure that will change once the humidity and summer swelter chase everyone back into the arms of air-conditioned comfort.

Not just you, my comments are quiet now too.
Sleeves are coming along nicely.

It’s the time of year…lots of us are gardening, and frankly, my garden is more interesting right now than the state of my knitting and (non) spinning! But, I have always questioned whether growing your own veggies actually saves money! By the time you get through buying seeds, potting soil, pots, fertilizer, and then figure in the cost of the lights to start the seeds, the water….whew. The cost of that garden tomato this year is in the hundreds, especially with the purchase of the little greenhouse. Fun, though, and good exercise, and rewarding if I can keep the critters out!
I was just thinking about the comment thing this morning! I haven’t been receiving that many comments lately, but I have to admit that I haven’t been commenting on blogs as much either.
For me, I think it’s because I tend to read blog posts through my RSS feed aggregator and, although there’s a link to comment within the post, I just don’t seem to think to click on it as much as I did when I actually had my blogs bookmarked and opened up each blog individually to read it. Maybe the same is happening for other readers??
Nancy’s last blog post..Whew!
I really want to try a top down sweater myself. The knitted on sleeves is just such a fabulous method. Your sweater is practically done!
Comments *are* a bit slow but blog posts are just as prolific. It’s hard to find time with all the nice outdoor weekend and weeknight activities going on.

Yeah, my comments are down, and so is my commenting. For me, this is partly a function of Ravelry. I’m just as apt to be reading and posting in a forum as reading and commenting on a blog. It’s also partly that I’ve been pulling away from the computer in general…not to garden…but more knitting, more reading, more walking, more socializing, etc. I also think in general, we’re all suffering from blog overload. There’s too many to keep up with, so I stop keeping up at all. Except for you, of course.
