Bursting

Just look at that knitting bag.

013109_0004

It’s filled to bursting, poor thing.

The problem is the rapidly-growing afghan, I’m just about finished with my third skein of yarn and this is starting to get bulky … and we’ve got quite a ways to go.

I think it’s about time to separate my knitting into separate bags.

Did you know that the Superbowl is going to have some 3D spots this year? And, not only that, Chuck … my beloved Chuck … is coming back with new episodes on Monday–starting with an episode entirely in 3D! So you can imagine how delighted Mom and I were to find the display of 3D glasses at the grocery store this morning.

Apparently, the technology is entirely new, and watching without the glasses is still possible, but, well where’s the fun in that? Although–my problem? I knit while I watch television, so I don’t really know how much I’ll be able to watch WITH the glasses … but at least I have the option.

And meantime, yay for Chuck finally being back on the air. (Because, gosh, have I mentioned that it’s my favorite current tv show?)

013109_0011 We were at the grocery store to pick up some chicken and some carrots. Because, yep, you’re seeing what you think you’re seeing. Homemade, from scratch, chicken soup, using the chicken stock/broth I made last week. I’ll have to let you know later how it tastes … although the sip I had a little while ago? It still doesn’t taste “chickeny” enough to me, though it at leasts tastes acceptible. It sure looks and smells good!

And, you’ve got to admit I tried.

Remember a couple weeks ago, when I told you how I’d gotten duplicate orders from Bath & Body Works? And how I emailed them to let them know, and was irritated that they wanted me to call them instead of dealing with it via email? And that they sent me a UPS label so I could return the duplicate items?

Well, I got my Visa bill today. Guess who got a CREDIT for her return from B&BW?

Yep. They refunded me for returning items I hadn’t actually bought in the first place.

Corporate America at its best, folks.

The next question–would you think less of me if I just let this go at this point, instead of butting my head up against the B&BW brick wall again?

  1. I would completely give up on B&BW – you might end up getting charged for both what you got and returned, as well as some random things at this point!

Thought of you when I saw this.

  2. You know, I think I’d let it go, as much as that goes against my usual goody-two-shoes morality. Call it your fee for excessive frustration and dealing with incompetence.

  3. I’m pretty goody-two shoes myself, but I’d be sorely tempted to let it go as a cost of their incompetence. Call it free yarn money.

  4. Walk away from corporate America. No good deed goes unpunished. Especially with them.

  5. My homemade chicken soup never tastes chickeny enough to me. I recently bought a container of soup base – not boullion, this is a plastic jar of paste – from Sam’s Club, and I’ve been using that in my chicken n dumplings with success. I just haven’t made soup recently enough to find out how it works there.

As far as B&BW goes, you’ve gone way above and beyond what most people would do. Chris is right, at this point you now risk them going too far in the other direction. They’ve screwed it up, what, three times? Karma is telling you to give up and accept the benefit of their bad management. :)

  6. you tried and already did the good! I say let it go and just smile…karma was trying hard to smile down on you one way or another….cash works!

  7. That’s pretty much what I think, too, folks. I posted this on Punctuality Rules, too, and somebody mentioned giving the refund to charity, which sounds like a pretty good idea, too … or, say, half?

  8. I think maybe chicken soup and chicken broth (and beef broth, for that matter) don’t taste right to me because I’m too accustomed to fake broth from a can. It’s the same reason I like fake maple syrup better than the real stuff, too. So sad.

  9. My two cents – twice —-

First, the chicken soup. When I make mine from scratch I always help the flavor by using boullion. I let my carcass simmer for hours but the soup is still not “chickeny” enough hence the boullion.

Second, I had a similar duplicate issue as you but mine was a 4-drawer steel filing cabinet from Office Depot. When my original one was delivered I discovered it was damaged when I opened the box so I called OD. They set up a delivery for a new one and a pick up for the damaged one.

When the new one was delivered the driver knew nothing about picking up the damaged one so he refused to take it. I called OD two more times about having the damaged one picked up. The second time they said to just keep the damaged one or throw it out as it wasn’t worth it to them to arrange for a pickup.

When I got my CC bill I had a charge for the original cabinet PLUS a credit for the original cabinet. And I now have 2 steel 4-drawer cabinets. Well….only 7 usuable drawers but all were free!

  10. Just let it go. I told you before about my round and round years ago and believe me it isn’t worth the stress. If it bothers you too much then buy yarn and make a couple of charity items!

  11. That IS corpoate america at its best! I’d let it go. At this point, it’s not a matter of honesty. You’d be batlting machines.

  12. You may definitely toy with the idea.

Chuck is 3-D tonight? Boo. At least i can watch it even if I can’t see 3-D. (Requires two eyes and those funny glasses)
