Cake and Granola
So, what’s a girl to do, once she’s home from errands on what turned into a snowy Saturday?
Yep. Make yummy stuff in the kitchen!
I got my Cooks Illustrated yesterday, and this recipe looked really good.
It smells really good, too. I’m just waiting for it to cool off enough to have a piece. Because–yum! I don’t know if my cream cheese filling has worked out the way it’s supposed to since it was a little too runny to position correctly in the center, but it smells so wonderful at this moment, I don’t care.
There’s granola, too.
So, we looked around our house and realized that we really didn’t have room for our Christmas tree. Kind of a sad thing, but we can’t let that stop us!
So, we picked up a little, 4-foot artificial tree for $25 and put it on the coffee table. We’ve only just plugged it in, so it doesn’t have any decorations yet, but it’s a Christmas tree, so no complaints.
Otherwise–did I mention? It’s snowing out there!

House Calls

Nice tree! It is a cute little one. The cake looks yummy. I hope it tasted the same.
Yummy – I love coffee cake! How did it come out?
HEE HEE…when I pulled up your blog I was confused…the title of the post is “Cake and Granola” but all I could see was snow!!!
Mebbe it’s snow-envy…
I have a 4 ft tree as well – it sits on top of my piano. Even though it’s not a full size tree, I still get all those warn gushy feelings when I decorate it. The ornaments I hang are either all homemade (by myself or others) or fun ones given to me by friends. I spend a delightful few hours thinking about people I may not have thought about for the past 2 years (since I traveled for Christmas last year I did not set up my tree). What a gift to myself!
So many exciting new things for you guys!!!! Celebrate each one!
Nuts – I get WARM gushy feelings not WARN gushy ones…
Darn. Here I was expecting granola cake.
We had our first snow at my house today in SW PA tho other areas had some a bit earlier this fall. Although it snowed about 8 hours, all we got was a skiff on the grass. That’s enough for the whole season as far as I’m concerned!
Your little tree is fine….you may even find room for the big one before Christmas! Otherwise, maybe next year you’ll have both trees up!
