That book looks very interesting – Abigail is my 8th (or something) Great-Aunt so I love reading about her!

Dear Chappy,

We are so sorry. We can’t even imagine the horror of not having a food dish. It would be nearly as bad as having to go back to that place they call “the pound”. By the way, our dishes are metal, so they’ll last forever, at least we hope so.

I am so sorry to hear about Chappy’s dear departed dish.

However, thank you for the tip on the Abigail Adams bio! One of my reactions to McCullough’s John Adams biography was that there wasn’t enough Abigail. Maybe Santa will pick this one up for me.

The cats will all raise a treat in tribute to Chappy’s dish (they’ve already had dinner). I’d offer some for their homies, but William Henry would just eat that too.

I tried my best to save Chappy’s dish but it happened so quickly that before I knew it the food dish had been shattered.

If it’s any consolation, Chappy took it all in stride… he ran over when he heard the noise, surveyed the situation, sniffed at the shards of his dish and then turned and left.

To be honest, I don’t know if the applesauce was suicidal or if it was pushed by whatever was behind it on the shelf. I wouldn’t put it past the breadcrumbs to do something like that…they’re known to be pretty crummy sometimes.

Is it wrong of me though to be glad it wasn’t my foot which was right along side the food dish !!!
